night fears.

I didn’t know where I was headed,

Or how I was getting home,

But I knew it was alright,

Because you were on my mind,

Mirages of you were flicking through my eyes,

And thoughts of what if,

I did not fear the night,

For I knew I must be on your mind too,

You always made the nights easy,

And never ending,

Like you welcomed the darkness,

And the chance to feel fearless again,

But as I turned my pale face to the moonlight,

And looked down these unfamiliar streets,

Your image faded,

And my fear welled up in me,

You lied,

You aren’t here,

And we aren’t timeless,

You have left me standing here,

Feeling far from fearless.
