worth the chase

I escaped the norm to find myself,

I travelled miles to fall into old habits,

I came this far,

Counted the miles,

Looked back,

But only to smile,

And look forward again,

But the places I always roam,

They haunt me in the night,

So I walk down to the water,

I dip my toes,

And with the cold water,

Comes fear of the unknown,

Fear of the known,

What my mind is thinking,

But not telling me,

So I came to find myself,

But in fact this water swirls at my feet,

Like my mind pools with poems,

And words,

And thoughts,

And plans,

And at the end of the day,

I found myself,

The curious girl in search of more,

And a feeling that was worth the chase
