still

No I am not changing,

I am learning,

No I am not different,

I am grown,

I feel all but the same,

Time has taught me much,

And I return hopeful and happy,

Fulfilled and wreckless,

But this place stands still,

As though time has forgotten this quiet town,

Not the people,

Not the voices,

Not the houses,

And not the woods,

They all stand silent,

And still,

As though time has whirled past and forgotten this town,

Just like I once did,

But you call me back,

You call out and smile that same smirk,

It plays on your lips,

And in my mind,

Because I always answer,

And I stand frozen in this spot,

Like you made me,

This town is you,

This town beckons me home,

It’s grips have hold,

And I once called this home,

But I must flee.
